Soul Release Poetry, the longest running spoken word poetry event in northeast Florda, every third Saturday at 8:00pm. Features an open mic for poets and singers, hip hop and R&B by DJ Al Pete and nationally known spoken word artists.

Epiphany is a Counselor/Educator by trade and is a member of Savannah’s premier Spitfire Poetry Group (www.spitfirepoetrygroup.com / www.myspace.com/spitfirepoetrygroup). As a member and individually, Epiphany has performed (and featured) in several venues throughout the southeast. She has been featured on the Blogtalk radio show, Sippin on Ink and works closely with the soul jazz funk band, Nickle Bag of Funk.

Corey Hopps is an educator in Southeast Georgia. and has been writing for most of his life. He calls his style of poetry Southern Realism. He has published poetry in Calliope Literary Magazine. He has received an award for best Male Spoken Word Artist at the 2004 Savannah Spoken Word Festival. He has served as a Show Coordinator for AWOL, INC. (Artistic Outreach Program). and Program Coordinator for Cider House, Inc (Artistic Outreach Program).He co-authored a critically acclaimed volume of poetry entitled, “Urban Journalism” in 2006. He is currently working on three books and a spoken word CD, and continues to teach middle school students.

Singer and Songwriter, Salakida (sah-lah-kee-duh) classifies her sound as “Blippie Funk” or Black Hippie Funk. Her unique style merges different elements of hip hop from her Oakland roots while adding pop, rock and some good ol’ Georgia soul (where she now calls home) to the mix. She has been honored to work with such artists as Kenny Lattimore, D’wanye Wiggins, Blackilicious and Jaguar Wright.
